Things to see in Lanzarote: South of the Island

El Golfo

Small village with black lava beach (Playa El Golfo) and green lake (El Lago Verde). Several fish restaurants boarding the sea, of which we prefer Casa Torano and Costa Azul.

Femés

Very nice small white village on top of the mountain with 2 good restaurants: Balcon de Femes has fabulous views towards Playa Blanca and Fuerteventura.

Salinas de Janubio

Janubio salt flats are the biggest salt flats still producing in the Canary Islands. Their amazing colours are a must-see for tourists in Lanzarote. There is a nice fish restaurant (Mirador de las Salinas) overlooking the salt flats.

Los Hervideros

This series of underground caves, created by lava flow, makes the sea appear to bubble and boil as the strong waves push the water into the maze of caves with huge force. Worth a stop when you are in the neighborhood of El Golfo.

Yaiza

Yaiza is an attractive white-washed pueblo, so picturesque it has been voted ‘Prettiest Village in Spain’ twice in recent years. There are no specific attraction points with the exception of the charming 17th century Nuestra Señora de los Remedios church.

Playa Quemada

Dramatic scenery of the sea against black mountains: a few restaurants of which we like Salmarina very much.

Puerto Calero

Nice marina with fancy yachts, many tourists and many restaurants of which Amura is recommended.
