Wind surfing: Located on Lanzarote’s northwestern coast, Famara (Lanza surf, +34 697 23 81 15) and  La Santa (Kalufa Surf School, +34 661 05 09 66) and are the best year-round surf spots. In Costa Teguise there is the Windsurfing Spot Costa Teguise (Av. Arenas Blancas 49). Playa Blanca is not the best beach for surfing.

Kite Surfing:  There are different beaches where you can kite surf: Famara, Playa Honda, Los Charcos (Costa Teguise), Arrieta beach and Matagorda. Playa Blanca is not the best beach for kite surfing.

Diving: There are several places where you can rent diving material or follow diving courses. In Playa Blanca you have Dive College Lanzarote (Calle Lanzarote 1, +34 928 51 86 68) that allows you to dive tot he Museo Atlantico.

In Arrieta there is Northdiving Lanzarote (+34 928 84 82 85), in Puerto Carmen you have many, including Canary Island Divers (Calle Alemania 1), Safari Diving (Playa de la Barrilla 4) and Lanzarote Dive Centre (Avda de las Playas 38) and in Costa Teguise you have Native Diving Lanzarote (Avenida del Jablillo, 1, Hotel Grand Teguise Playa).

Sedgway: Group tours with Moving Segway Lanzarote (Calle de las Buganvillas, 6, Playa Blanca, +34 657 55 71 90) take you on an on and off-road adventure with a choice of routes that include ancient native sites, beaches, volcanos and more.

Wine tasting: Lanzarote produces some excellent wines. Most of the wineries (bodegas) are along the LZ30 route (La geria, Rubicon, El Grifo, Vega de Yuco). Wine Tours Lanzarote (Calle Los Sabandenos 45, Tías, +34 631789200) offer walks around three lovely vineyards, where every stage of the wine-making process is still done by hand, and you can taste the local wines.

Camel and horse riding: You can discover Lanzarote is on camel or horseback. There are numerous defined riding trails – called Rutas Ecuestres – and there’s no shortage of riding centres dotted around the island. You can trot or gallop through some stunning scenery, with the likes of Horses Lanzarote (Calle Pardelera, 35539 Teseguite, +34 696844395) who offer one- or two-hour tours around the Costa Teguise area. They also have ponies for younger riders. Alternatively, you can explore the desert-like landscapes on the back of a camel in the Timanfaya National Park.

Dolphin watching: There are several boat trips to look for dolphins.
